Green-Light-Sensitive BODIPY Photoprotecting Groups for Amines
We describe a series of easily accessible, visible-light-sensitive (λ > 500 nm) BODIPY (boron-dipyrromethene)-based photoprotecting groups (PPGs) for primary and secondary amines, based on a carbamate linker. The caged compounds are stable under aqueous conditions for 24 h and can be efficiently uncaged in vitro with visible light (λ = 530 nm). These properties allow efficient photodeprotection...
متن کاملBODIPY-derived photoremovable protecting groups unmasked with green light.
Photoremovable protecting groups derived from meso-substituted BODIPY dyes release acetic acid with green wavelengths >500 nm. Photorelease is demonstrated in cultured S2 cells. The photocaging structures were identified by our previously proposed strategy of computationally searching for carbocations with low-energy diradical states as a possible indicator of a nearby productive conical inters...
متن کاملmeso-Methylhydroxy BODIPY: a scaffold for photo-labile protecting groups.
Here, we show that by installing a meso-methylhydroxy moiety, the boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) scaffold can be converted into an efficient caging group, removable by green light. We describe caging and uncaging of important chemical functionalities and demonstrate green light mediated control over biological processes in cultured cell lines and neurons.
متن کاملVisible light induced green transformation of primary amines to imines using a silicate supported anatase photocatalyst.
Catalytic oxidation of amine to imine is of intense present interest since imines are important intermediates for the synthesis of fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural chemicals. However, considerable efforts have been made to develop efficient methods for the oxidation of secondary amines to imines, while little attention has until recently been given to the oxidation of primary a...
متن کاملGreen light for selected baby
Zain Hashmi is a three-year-old little boy from northern England with big brown eyes and a fatal disease, beta thalassaemia major. As his bone marrow is unable to produce sufficient numbers of red blood cells, he needs regular transfusions and is unlikely to survive for long unless transplanted with suitable stem cells. These could come from the bone marrow of a donor with matching tissue type,...
